Biodiesel can be used as a fuel for vehicles in its pure form, but it is usually used as a diesel additive to reduce levels of particulates, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons from diesel-powered vehicles. Biodiesel is produced from oils or fats using transesterification and is the most common biofuel in Europe. Biodiesel fuel is a clean burning alternative fuel that is derived from 100% renewable resources. Many people believe that Biodiesel is the fuel of the future. It is broadly known as Biofuel. Biodiesel does not contain petroleum, but can be mixed with petroleum to produce a biodiesel blend (eg. B20, B50) that can be used in a variety of cars. Pure biodiesel fuel (ie. B100), though, can only be used in diesel engines. Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic, making it so safe that it is even safer than the commonly used table salt!
